This new cafe popped up at the top of Gibson St as part of Glasgow Uni's "The Hive" building. I was in the area and had an hour to kill, and as this place is doing Martha's food I decided to pay it a visit.
It's unassuming and you might not even notice there's a cafe there - it faces Gibson St/University Avenue and the entrance is on the corner of Gibson St. Inside you'll definitely feel like you're in a student union and G12 is on the left. The cafe is small - maybe 10 tables and has a relaxed vibe. It was pretty quiet when I visited so I got some food and a drink and took a seat. They have Martha's food but the range is really small so don't be choosy. I had a pastrami panini which was really nice and fresh. This place seems to double as a bar so they also have alcoholic options, but there's a good range of soft drinks and the coffee/hot drinks is a Starbucks menu.
They have free wifi (see tips on the Yelp app) and there's toilets around the corner in the union. All up, this seemed like a pretty decent new cafe and addition to the area. Staff were nice and chatty, I'd definitely go back. -

I'm not really sure what to make of this cafe. I guess it's fine?
I went in because I love Martha's food but the main Martha's cafe on St Vincent Street isn't in a handy location for me for lunch. I spotted that G12 was offering Martha's stuff so that seemed like the perfect solution. They only have ~3 sandwiches available from the Martha's range and none of the other items which seems like a shame, but they're still good. I got a chipotle chicken sandwich and enjoyed it.
Then, they sell Starbucks coffee but it's not a real Starbucks so you can't use the Starbucks card or app. You can use their loyalty card which gets you a free coffee when you've bought ten. They have a big freezer with maybe 10 flavours of Carte Dor ice cream. They have three or four beers on draft and a few in the fridge. Actually it looks like they have a full bar. So there's a fair range of options here and I can see it being a good spot to sit and work through the day and then have a glass of wine when you're done working.
When I visited at lunchtime (but not during term time) it was totally dead. No staff were visible and I worried I'd walked in when they weren't technically open. I was about to leave when someone appeared and confirmed that yes, they were open. They took my order but I had to ask for a plate for my sandwich, even thought I'd already said I was sitting in.
Maybe things are just a bit smoother during term time. It's a nice enough space, plenty of natural light and comfy seating. WiFi is free (see Briony's tip for the password) and the prices aren't bad (I paid ~£5 for a sandwich and a latte) but I guess anywhere is weird when it's empty. -

This is a great place to pop in and grab a coffee or something to snack on. They are franchise of Starbucks so although they offer Starbucks coffees and teas you can't use your Starbucks card there.
They offer a small selection of Martha's sandwiches, salads and puddings. I was disappointed to find out they were out of the chia seed pudding, so I recommend going earlier on in the day if you wanna grab some of Martha's specialities. They had some nice looking cookies and the atmosphere is very comfortable.
It's a nice place to meet up with friends and is very bright and airy feeling. Always nice to find a place in Glasgow that makes you feel warm inside. I'm not the biggest Starbucks fan so I didn't find the coffee anything to write home about. Nonetheless it's a nice place to stop into, especially if you are on the university campus.
